Can you believe that we
have ANOTHER release here at Omnific this month? And it’s from one of our
wonderful authors that you all already love! Patricia Leever’s, Divinity, will be released tomorrow and
this is one you DEFINITELY don’t want to miss out on!
Demons.
They’re everywhere, hiding in plain sight. Chances are, you’ve interacted with
one or two of them in your lifetime without even realizing it...
Demon hunter Evelyn Brighton saves unsuspecting humans from the malevolent creatures
masquerading around them every day. Working under the Lebriga Corporation’s
direction, she never fails to bring her A-game with her keen skill, fiercely
independent spirit, and the best weapon in her arsenal: the Divinity blade.
Evelyn’s world is turned on its ear, however, when she is ordered to train
cocky new recruit Daniel Summers. They both feel an instinctive pull drawing
them to one another, the ancient spells tattooed into their skin illuminating
whenever the two hunters come into contact. But with evil looming over the city
of Los Angeles, Evelyn and Daniel’s mutual competitiveness and sense of duty to
Lebriga and all mankind forces them to hold back their desires. Will their
restraint be enough to keep them focused and save southern California, or will
the dark forces prevail?
Set in modern-day Los Angeles, Divinity is an action-filled, fast-paced
marriage of urban fantasy and paranormal romance. Edgy, witty, and sexy, it
will bind you in its spell.
And because I have an “in”
with Patricia, I convinced her to answer my questions for me…of course it didn’t
take much convincing because she loves sharing with her readers!
Omnific: Was writing your second novel a different experience from your
first? Was it a little easier knowing what to expect from the process?
Patricia: This book flowed out of me a
lot easier than the first one, probably because this genre is my comfort zone.
As far as the publishing part it was way easier because I knew what to expect.
So I guess what I’m saying is, yes, it was easier this time around LOL!
Omnific: So pirates and demons kind of different
ends of the spectrum? Which did you find easier to write?
Patricia: Yes I am a bit of a genre
jumper. I did find this one easier to write in that it is set in modern day Los
Angeles and I live just outside of LA. My husband actually works in LA on a
regular basis and would “scout” out sites for me to use in the book, sending
pictures and such, he’s pretty freaking awesome.
Omnific:Both of your main characters are strong, badass women, is that
easier to write for you than the “damsel in distress”?
Patricia: Extremely! The “damsel in
distress” type drives me bonkers. As a kid, I always looked up to heroines such
as Wonder Woman, Ripley from Aliens, The Bionic Woman and the like. Those were
woman that took control of a situation and didn’t need a man to step in and
save the day for them, THEY saved the day. I have always been a believer that a
woman can do anything a man can do, except pee standing up. And really, we can
even do that if need be, it’s just messy.
Omnific: Since Omnific is all about the
romance...what is your favorite romance scene in a book?
Patricia: Oh, I think it would have to be when they
are down in the range and kiss for the first time.
Omnific: Now, if they made that into a movie who would you want cast
opposite you?
Patricia: My husband, naturally! Now,
if he just HAPPENED to be unavailable for some unforeseen reason, say someone
tied him up and shoved him in the closet under the stairs or something like
that. If that were the case then I guess I could throw myself under the
proverbial bus and cast Chris Evans in the role. It would be difficult, but I
think I could force myself.
(I threw in the shirtless one because...well, yeah, why wouldn't I?)
Omnific: Okay, I am lucky enough to be your acquisitions editor and can’t wait
to find out more about Evelyn and Daniel. Are there any hints that you can give
about what’s coming?
Patricia: Well, I can tell you that I have the
outline for the second book roughed out and hoping to start getting down to
business on the actual writing of that very soon! I’m also working on a little
short, a prequel of sorts, that I hope to have up and running very very soon!
The trailer for
Divinity is amazing. If you haven’t seen this yet, have a look!
Thank you so much

And now...we all know how this goes! It's time to BOUNCE!

Omnific is excited for it's newest release, Recaptured Dreams by Justine Dell! And we are lucky enough to get Justine to spend some time with us and tell us about her new release.
Ten years, the Atlantic Ocean, and several rungs in society have kept Xavier Cain from having Sophia Montel. Now twenty-seven, he’s spent his entire adult life building a fashion empire that could finally prove his worth to her family. When fate reunites him with Sophia at London’s premiere fashion show, one problem lodges in Xavier’s path: Sophia doesn’t remember him.
The only obstacle that has kept Sophia from Xavier is a horrific car crash that erased her memory at seventeen. She’s spent the last ten years fighting to reclaim a sliver of her past that her mother refuses to help her remember. When Sophia meets Xavier at the London show, however, all her fantasies come to life in one night of passion. Discovering he is the missing link, she is determined to find all the pieces to their love story and her memory.
Xavier wants forever. Sophia wants her memory. If they take this chance, they’ll have to start over. How far are they willing to go to get what they want? And when the past catches up to them, can they handle the truths it has hidden?
Justine was nice enough to answer a few of my questions so that the
readers could get to know her and her story a little better.
Omnific: Recaptured Dreams is your first
novel, tell us about what inspired you to write and write this book in general.
Recaptured
Dreams is the second book I’d ever written. The idea for the story came about
spur-of the-moment (don’t they all?). I’d seen a contest posted online from a
publisher calling for submissions within specific guidelines. A gal I work with
thought I should enter and together in just a few minutes we came up with the
idea for Recaptured Dreams. In thirty days, the story was done.
As far
as writing goes, I’d been mulling over writing down a story that had been
floating around in my head for a while. I saw a movie that unleashed a passion
and got me thinking, “Hey, if this normal
woman can write a romance, I can to!” So I did. Of course I’ve learned
since then there’s so much more that goes into a novel than just an idea.
Omnific: Can you share a little of your writing
process with us? Are you a plotter or do you write as a scene hits?
I’m a
panster—hands down. When I started writing I realized what a release it was for
me. I just had this idea in my head and I just wrote it. It unfolded as my
fingers tapped across the keys. My world is so structured and demanding (mainly
because of my own OCD personality…heehee) and writing gives me the opportunity
to break free and just let the story fly. It’s those moments of sitting down at
my computer, typing away as the story simply reveals itself in my head that are
magical to me.
Omnific:I know that you are doing
something special in conjunction with promoting your book, can you tell us
about your upcoming blog hop and the reason behind it?
Whew, I’m doing lots of things. And yes, one of them is very special. First, for the entire month of September I’m blog
hopping all over the place. If you visit my blog (www.justine-dell.blogspot.com) you
get daily updates about where I will be that day. Each stop offers prizes and
I’m hosting a HUGE giveaway of my own in conjunction with the blog tour.
The
second thing is an online book launch party that will benefit The Out of the
Darkness Walk for Suicide Prevention. This is a cause near to my heart and good
friend and fellow author, Sarah Fine, and I have teamed up to raise money for
this year’s walk in my home town. Our debut novels come out Sept 18th
and Oct 16th (respectively) and the Walk is Oct 27th.
Sarah’s YA deals with teenage suicide and I thought it would be a wonderful
opportunity to spread the word about our books and this great Foundation. So
we’ve put together a HUGE stash of books and goodies, donated by Omnific
authors, bloggers, literary agents and fabulous other authors. On Oct. 6th
well be hosting the best giveaway and auction, with 100% of the proceeds going
towards American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. All the info can be found
on my blog!
Omnific: Since Omnific is all about the romance...what is your favorite
romance scene in a book?
Oh, there are so many
good scenes in this book if you ask me. However, I do have a favorite line that
comes right after a love scene when Xavier gets Sophia in his arms again.
Xavier had thought he was in paradise before. He’d been wrong. Sophia was
more than paradise. She was the very reason he breathed.
Omnific: Now, if they made that into a movie who would you want cast
opposite you?
This is so easy, although
no one would be cast opposite me because
I’m not the heroine. Mysterious yet sexy Liam Hemsworth would be the perfect
Xavier and Emma Watson has all the traits to make an outstanding Sophia.
Omnific: And the dreaded question after months of editing…do you have
anything that you are working on next?
*Shakes head* I have LOTS of stuff churning here. I’m a glutton
for punishment, I guess. My second book, All
American Girl, a contemporary romance, will be coming out in early 2013 (Omnific) and I just finished Until Next Time, a contemporary romance
just last week. What I’m REALLY excited out is this year’s
NaNo project. I’ve decided to write Recaptured Dreams into a series, with the
next book Chase Your Dreams following
the perky Anne Marie through her love story. I’m swooning already.
Thanks Justine! We are all looking forward to Recaptured Dreams! And don't forget to check out the amazing trailer as well!
But before we get there, I wanted to tell you about some more giveaways some of our fabulous authors have going on right now.
Looking for a good YA read to get you through these first days of the school year? Well, you're in luck! Laurie's Thought and Reviews is giving away a copy of Jennifer Lane's Streamline.
Seems like Leo Scott has it all: looks, brains, and athletic talent. He’s captain of his high school swim team with a bright future in college and beyond. But Leo has secrets. His mother’s crippling car accident has devastated his family and left Leo to deal with his father’s abuse, battered and alone.
Leo’s girlfriend Audrey Rose is poised for her own share of success. As one of Florida’s top high school swimmers, Audrey dreams of college swimming stardom. But there’s an obstacle to her glorious rise to the top. Her number-one supporter—her father—is in prison for murder.
Part murder mystery, part tale of young love in a military family, this gripping story takes readers on a journey from Pensacola to Annapolis. Leo and Audrey must band together to rise above the adversity they encounter and find their true selves in the process. When everything’s on the line . . . streamline.
And as if the description wasn't enough...Girl in the Woods Reviews gave it a 5 out of 5 rating and said that she "loved it to the max." (Now as a child of the 80s, I can't think of a better compliment than that!)
OH! And to top it off, you can get the ebook of Streamline for just $2.99 right now! Now, isn't that a giant neon sign that says you need to go read this one?
