Ten years, the Atlantic Ocean, and several rungs in society have kept Xavier Cain from having Sophia Montel. Now twenty-seven, he’s spent his entire adult life building a fashion empire that could finally prove his worth to her family. When fate reunites him with Sophia at London’s premiere fashion show, one problem lodges in Xavier’s path: Sophia doesn’t remember him.
The only obstacle that has kept Sophia from Xavier is a horrific car crash that erased her memory at seventeen. She’s spent the last ten years fighting to reclaim a sliver of her past that her mother refuses to help her remember. When Sophia meets Xavier at the London show, however, all her fantasies come to life in one night of passion. Discovering he is the missing link, she is determined to find all the pieces to their love story and her memory.
Xavier wants forever. Sophia wants her memory. If they take this chance, they’ll have to start over. How far are they willing to go to get what they want? And when the past catches up to them, can they handle the truths it has hidden?
Justine was nice enough to answer a few of my questions so that the
readers could get to know her and her story a little better.
Omnific: Recaptured Dreams is your first
novel, tell us about what inspired you to write and write this book in general.
Recaptured
Dreams is the second book I’d ever written. The idea for the story came about
spur-of the-moment (don’t they all?). I’d seen a contest posted online from a
publisher calling for submissions within specific guidelines. A gal I work with
thought I should enter and together in just a few minutes we came up with the
idea for Recaptured Dreams. In thirty days, the story was done.
As far
as writing goes, I’d been mulling over writing down a story that had been
floating around in my head for a while. I saw a movie that unleashed a passion
and got me thinking, “Hey, if this normal
woman can write a romance, I can to!” So I did. Of course I’ve learned
since then there’s so much more that goes into a novel than just an idea.
Omnific: Can you share a little of your writing process with us? Are you a plotter or do you write as a scene hits?
I’m a
panster—hands down. When I started writing I realized what a release it was for
me. I just had this idea in my head and I just wrote it. It unfolded as my
fingers tapped across the keys. My world is so structured and demanding (mainly
because of my own OCD personality…heehee) and writing gives me the opportunity
to break free and just let the story fly. It’s those moments of sitting down at
my computer, typing away as the story simply reveals itself in my head that are
magical to me.
Omnific: I know that you are doing something special in conjunction with promoting your book, can you tell us about your upcoming blog hop and the reason behind it?
Whew, I’m doing lots of things. And yes, one of them is very special. First, for the entire month of September I’m blog hopping all over the place. If you visit my blog (www.justine-dell.blogspot.com) you get daily updates about where I will be that day. Each stop offers prizes and I’m hosting a HUGE giveaway of my own in conjunction with the blog tour.
The
second thing is an online book launch party that will benefit The Out of the
Darkness Walk for Suicide Prevention. This is a cause near to my heart and good
friend and fellow author, Sarah Fine, and I have teamed up to raise money for
this year’s walk in my home town. Our debut novels come out Sept 18th
and Oct 16th (respectively) and the Walk is Oct 27th.
Sarah’s YA deals with teenage suicide and I thought it would be a wonderful
opportunity to spread the word about our books and this great Foundation. So
we’ve put together a HUGE stash of books and goodies, donated by Omnific
authors, bloggers, literary agents and fabulous other authors. On Oct. 6th
well be hosting the best giveaway and auction, with 100% of the proceeds going
towards American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. All the info can be found
on my blog!
Omnific: Since Omnific is all about the romance...what is your favorite
romance scene in a book?
Oh, there are so many
good scenes in this book if you ask me. However, I do have a favorite line that
comes right after a love scene when Xavier gets Sophia in his arms again.
Xavier had thought he was in paradise before. He’d been wrong. Sophia was
more than paradise. She was the very reason he breathed.
This is so easy, although
no one would be cast opposite me because
I’m not the heroine. Mysterious yet sexy Liam Hemsworth would be the perfect
Xavier and Emma Watson has all the traits to make an outstanding Sophia.
Omnific: And the dreaded question after months of editing…do you have
anything that you are working on next?
*Shakes head* I have LOTS of stuff churning here. I’m a glutton
for punishment, I guess. My second book, All
American Girl, a contemporary romance,
will be coming out in early 2013 (Omnific) and I just finished Until Next Time, a contemporary romance
just last week. What I’m REALLY excited out is this year’s
NaNo project. I’ve decided to write Recaptured Dreams into a series, with the
next book Chase Your Dreams following
the perky Anne Marie through her love story. I’m swooning already.
Thanks Justine! We are all looking forward to Recaptured Dreams! And don't forget to check out the amazing trailer as well!
