What's that? It's Thursday again? And we all know what that means!! BLOG BOUNCE!!

And as always, before we get to the Bounce, I want to remind you of a great sale we have going on right now...all of Omnific's YA titles are on sale!! Yes that's right, ALL of our YA titles are just $2.99 for ebooks.

If you are looking for a good, fun read to finish out this summer, why not check out one of these great YA titles?

Life, Liberty, and Pursuit by Susan Kaye Quinn - When college-bound Eliza falls into a cruise-ship pool, she doesn’t expect to fall in love. And when navy recruit David pulls her from the water, he finds her surprisingly hard to resist. But a whirlwind of rescues, candlelit nights, and beachside misunderstandings pulls them into a four-day love affair that threatens to break their hearts before their love has a chance to start.

When David leaves for endless drills and physical training in boot camp, and Eliza returns to Albuquerque to prepare for Princeton in the fall, they dare to keep loving each other and struggle to imagine a future when they can be together. But when miles and mistrust pull them apart, they are forced to choose between keeping true to their dreams and having the courage to love.

Shades of Atlantis by Carol Oates- Since the death of their parents, Triona Pryor and her brother, Ben, have lived with their aunt and uncle in Camden, Maine. Now in her senior year of high school, Triona loves her family and friends, but she has always felt that she didn’t quite fit in…in Camden, or anywhere else.
Enter Caleb Wallace, the devilishly handsome man who has recently moved to Triona’s small town. While their attraction to each other is instantaneous, it also proves to be dangerous…and deadly.
When tragedy strikes, Triona flees to London for solace and to start her life anew. It’s there she discovers from an unlikely source that her family has been keeping secrets from her – secrets about not only her birthright, but her ultimate destiny as well. Armed with this knowledge, Triona finds herself thrown into a whole new world and into a battle to save the lives of everyone she loves.

Breaking Point by Jess Bowen -Phoebe Johnson and Ethan Smith had everything they needed: loving parents, great friends, and admission letters to Ivy League schools they’d be heading to in the fall. If only they knew that they were never going to reach the end of that summer--at least, not in the world they knew. A secret waits to be revealed on the eve of their nineteenth birthday, a secret that is going to change their lives forever when it leads them to a place they never believed existed, love they could never imagine living without, and power they never suspected they possessed.
Jess Bowen expertly plunges readers into an imaginative, supernatural world that refuses to bow down to the darkness that’s all but taken over. Amidst this adventurous quest for a lost prophecy, Bowen weaves in powerful tales of love that will leave the characters and readers breathless.

Ember by Carol Oates - When Candra Ember wakes up in hospital after a dangerous encounter with a red-haired woman, she is shocked to discover that seeing a winged boy wasn’t her imagination. Candra is exposed to a world of rivalry and sacrifice she never knew existed, and the aftermath of a war to save humanity thousands of years ago. Soon she finds herself relentlessly stalked by Sebastian, a beautiful and arrogant Watcher Angel and romantically pursued by his darkly seductive rival, Draven. Ultimately, dubious about her own goodness, Candra’s very existence compromises a tentative peace in the city of Acheron.

Embrace by Cherie Colyer -Madison is familiar enough with change, and she hates everything about it. Change took her long-term boyfriend away from her. It caused one of her friends to suddenly hate her. It’s responsible for the death of a local along with a host of other mysterious happenings. But when Madison meets a hot new guy, she thinks her luck is about to improve.
Madison is instantly drawn to the handsome and intriguing Isaac Addington. She quickly realizes he’s a guy harboring a secret, but she’s willing to risk the unknown to be with him.
Her world really spins out of control, however, when her best friend becomes delusional, seeing things that aren’t there and desperately trying to escape their evil. When the doctors can’t find the answers, Madison seeks her own.
Nothing can prepare her for what she is about to discover.
Dangerous, intoxicating, and darkly romantic, Embrace is a thriller that will leave you spellbound.

Destiny's Fire by Trisha Wolfe - It’s the year 2040, and sixteen-year-old Dez Harkly is one of the last of her kind—part of a nearly extinct race of shape-shifters descended from guardians to the Egyptian pharaohs. Her home and her secret are threatened when the Council lowers the barrier, allowing the enemy race to enter the Shythe haven.

As the Narcolym airships approach, Dez and her friends rebel against their Council and secretly train for battle. Not only is Dez wary of war and her growing affection for her best friend Jace, she fears the change her birthday will bring. When Dez’s newfound power rockets out of control, it’s a Narcolym who could change her fate…if she can trust him.

Dez’s guarded world crumbles when she discovers why the Narcos have really come to Haven Falls, and she's forced to choose between the race who raised her and the enemy she's feared her whole life.

Streamline by Jennifer Lane - Seems like Leo Scott has it all: looks, brains, and athletic talent. He’s captain of his high school swim team with a bright future in college and beyond. But Leo has secrets. His mother’s crippling car accident has devastated his family and left Leo to deal with his father’s abuse, battered and alone.

Leo’s girlfriend Audrey Rose is poised for her own share of success. As one of Florida’s top high school swimmers, Audrey dreams of college swimming stardom. But there’s an obstacle to her glorious rise to the top. Her number-one supporter—her father—is in prison for murder.

Part murder mystery, part tale of young love in a military family, this gripping story takes readers on a journey from Pensacola to Annapolis. Leo and Audrey must band together to rise above the adversity they encounter and find their true selves in the process. When everything’s on the line . . . streamline.

So for just about $20 you can read ALL seven of Omnific's YA titles! Now that's a great deal and a great way to wind up your summer reading list!!

RWA and Blog Bounce!

As a special treat today, we have one of Omnific newest authors guest blog and telling us about her experience at RWA. So welcome  Marian Vere!

A few days ago I returned from the RWA conference held this year in California, and besides from the grudge my feet are holding against me from overuse, it was a perfectly amazing trip!

RWA, or Romance Writers of America (which Canadians can also join, by the way) is a nonprofit trade association for writers of any facet of the romance genre. They provide news, classes, promotional opportunities, and loads of other perks designed to advance interests of the serious writer. Each year they hold a national conference in a different location, where the more than 10,000 members, as well as non-member writers can meet, learn, and hone the craft.

This was my second year attending the conference, and if was even more amazing the second time around. I was trying to come up with a way to tell you all about it, but wasn’t sure how I would be able to cover such a huge event. Statistically, people prefer reading lists over articles, and since I learned that little tidbit at a blogging workshop at RWA, I figure what better place to apply it then my RWA recap! So without further chit-chat, here we go…

First, about the conference:

·         Romance Writers of America
32nd Annual National Conference
July 24th – 28th 2012

·         Location: Anaheim, CA at the Marriot Resort and Convention Center. Right next to Disneyland, which is connected to California Adventure park, which has just opened Cars Land, a whole section of park dedicated to the Cars movies! The whole thing was a life-sized Radiator Springs! It was so cool! Umm… *ahem*… But I digress…

·         2,500 attendees, including writers, agents, editors, publishers, and other industry professionals

·         150 Workshop Sessions

·         Over 500 scheduled agent/editor one-on-one pitch appointments

·         11 Publisher Sponsored Book Signings, with a total of more than 400 books, all free to conference attendees

·         A promotional room where more than 400 authors displayed free promotional items for the attendees to peruse and take

Next, what I learned:

·         The romance genre sells above and beyond any other genre of writing, and continues to grow exponentially each year, thanks in no small part to the e-reader. (No more embarrassment about buying racy novels in stores. “God, what does the checkout boy think of me?!”)

·         More than 20% of all romance writers are men, most of whom write under a woman’s name. There were several men signing book at this year’s conference.

·         More than 25% of all romance readers are men. (I know, right!) This number also grows every year which is also thanks to the discretion of the e-reader. (Yeah, I’ll take this one. It’s um… for my wife…)

·         The original title of ‘Gone With the Wind’ was ‘Tote the Weary Load’, and ‘Scarlet O’Hara’ was originally ‘Pansy O’Hara’

·         Agent’s sign less than 1% of the projects that cross their desks. (This one I had already known, but it’s still mind blowing to think about.)

·         More than 30% of published authors, after publishing their first book, never write again. (And not because they made enough on their first book to retire.)

·         Agents and Editors do not expect perfection, but they do expect to see your best.

·         You should only pitch to agents at appropriate times and never, ever, follow an agent into the bathroom. (Yes, this one might seem like a no-brainer, but I volunteered at several sessions of the agent/editor pitch appointments, and yes, we had to physically stop a pitching author from following an agent into the restroom. *facepalm*)

·         Never send a query or submission in to an agent or editor in a font color other than black. No pink, no blue, no red. (Again, no-brainer, right? Apparently not.)

·         Nora Roberts—under that name alone—has in print, right now more than 420 million copies of her books worldwide. If you laid all the words in those books end to end at an 8pt. New Times Roman Font (the average size for one of her novels), you would have a line of text long enough to wrap around the equator 8,558 times!

·         I also learned the most successful formats for author blogs, how not to look in your author photos, how to write a back cover blurb that sells, what character traits readers love—and which ones they are tired of, and got to meet Lauren Willig, Nora Roberts, Kerrelyn Sparks, and Julia Quinn, just to name a few.

·         Last, but certainly not least, I brought home $652.00 worth of brand new books, including hardbacks, trades, mass-market, and even a few e-books! 61 in all. Yay!

Too bad you don’t have all day, as there is so much more I could tell you! However, I know you don’t, so we’ll just suffice it to say that this year’s RWA National Conference was a fantastic, enlightening, and inspiring event—as it is every year—and I can’t wait for Atlanta in 2013!
Hope to see you all there!

And Marian was nice enough to support all her Omnific family setting up some great opportunities for us - check out these pictures!

New York City...(Blog Bounce!)

Whew!! It's been a whirlwind of a week for Omnific Publishing!!

This week several of our staff were in New York City to attend a book launch party thrown by the Divalysscious Moms for Dr. Ivan Rusilko and Everly Drummond on the release of The Winemaker's Dinner...BUT before we get to that, we had a lot happen.

First, we got the VERY exciting news that Gabriel's Inferno by Sylvain Reynard made The New York Time's Bestseller List!! Making it's debut on the list at #35 for ebooks, Gabriel's Inferno is sure to keep moving up and taking that #1 spot in the future! There may have been some champagne popped and a few hugs exchanged among the staff...okay, there definitely was.

The following day, the deal between Penguin imprint, Berkley Publishing, and Omnific concerning Gabriel's Inferno was announced. (See story below) Again there may have been some champagne corks popped and lots of hugging.

Finally we all attended a launch party thrown by The Diva Moms, introducing Dr. Ivan and Everly to a group of their eager (and I use that word lightly!) members. The party took place on the roof top terrace of a Wall Street high rise. Let me tell you the views were SPECTACULAR!! And that was before Dr. Ivan even got there...

Come back next week for pics and more about the wonderful party and people we got to meet!!

Time to BOUNCE!!
