October is a busy month here at Omnific! We have another new release for you to curl up with on the cooler fall nights.
And this weeks new release is a long awaited and anticipated final book in Jennifer DeLucy's Light Series, Circle of Light will be available tomorrow! And guess who was lucky enough to have a few words with her and get a little excerpt from the book? That's right, Jen was so sweet to answer our questions and she has an extra special surprise to tell you about...
Empath and Pathcrosser to the dead, Lillian Hunt has

And now we can get some information from Jennifer as I plied here with a bunch of fun questions...
Omnific: Can you share a little bit about your writing process with us? Are
you a planner/outliner or do you just write as it comes?
Jennifer DeLucy: Well, it depends.
The very first book in the Light Series (Seers of Light - ebook on sale now for just 99 cents!) was totally off
the cuff. I hadn’t really planned anything out, though a lot of aspects made
themselves known ahead of time as I wrote, which was super exciting. By the
time I got to book two (Whisper of Light - ebook on sale now for just 2.99), though, I knew I kind of
needed to make sure that the pieces fit together, because all of the books
would reference and depend upon each other inevitably, so, I did a rough
outline for book two and again for book three (Circle of Light). These
outlines were quite prone to change (okay, they committed out and out anarchy,
really), but they helped me feel prepared.
Omnific: What
was your inspiration for your Light Series?
Jennifer DeLucy: At first I just wanted to write something that
inspired people to feel excited and passionate and magical about life again, to
believe in something bigger more beautiful, but then it turned into this whole
testament to inner strength, especially for women, to destiny and true love and
how lives are connected in ways we can’t even begin to understand. I’d figured
that bit out by the end of book two, so when it was time to write Circle of Light, my heart was fully
invested in the whole concept of the series.
Omnific: We know that writing isn’t your only creative outlet, you sing as
well (amazingly,I might add). Does music play a role in your writing as well?
Jennifer DeLucy: Thank you…and it’s
almost as important to the books as the writing itself! Not only did I compile
really specific playlists for all three books that I listened to all the time
while I wrote, but I also composed music for each novel, as well. I just feel
like I have a lot of emotion to release with each story and music helps me
complete the expression.
Omnific: Since Omnific is all about the
romance...what is your favorite romance scene in a book?
Jennifer DeLucy: This is a hard
question! I really had to think about this one, and I decided to go with a
real, true romance and a fun one at that. There’s a scene from one of the Black
Dagger Brotherhood books where one of the characters (a super hot vampire
nicknamed Hollywood, I believe) senses his soul mate for the first time, this
sickly, seemingly unattractive woman who happens to be in his home and he just
kind of loses it…he’s got her pressed against a wall and he’s ready to declare
passionate, undying love in that instant. It’s hilarious and sexy.
(Jen cemented herself as one of my favorite
people ever with a BDB reference…who doesn’t love a Brother??)
Omnific: Now, if they made that into a movie who would you want cast
opposite you?
Jennifer DeLucy: Ohhh, wow. Well, just
off hand I’m going to say Chris Hemsworth. He is one very attractive man, and
I’m sure he could lose the Aussie accent for the role, eh? ;) Cuz this is
totally happening.
(YES!! I had never thought of Chris Hemsworth, but he is THE PERFECT
Rhage!! Brilliant!)
Omnific: So Circle of Light
is the third book in the Light Series…will there be a fourth? (hint…hint…hint)
Weeeeell… I’m not making any promises, as I had thought to end it here,
but, there have been a lot of requests for a continuation lately, and I had a
kind of lightbulb moment recently with regards to it. That’s all I’m saying,
though. We’ll see what happens.
Omnific: Finally, there’s something special for those who purchase the book in the
first few days of release, can you tell us a little about that?
Heck
yeah! I’m so excited to share this, actually.
After a discussion with my brilliantly perfect publicist, I decided to
write a sort of prequel—a short story—from the vantage point of a pretty
well-loved character, William Maddox. It
describes to the reader, via William’s experiences, just what exactly went
wrong before Lily was brought from Pennsylvania to join Abram’s group in
Atlanta. It’s backstory of his time protecting her that the reader could only
get hints of in the books, and it really kind of fills in some points about his
character.
The
short, entitled Glimpse of Light,
will be offered totally free as a download to all who purchase Circle of Light either on release day or
the day after (October 9th or 10th). At some point after that it will be available
for purchase, I believe, but it’s only free those two days to readers who buy
Circle in any format. They just have to email their receipt to
publisher@omnificpublishing.com.

Jennifer also picked one of her favorite excerpts from Circle of Light to share with us...
The
first thing I noticed was the sound of water on sand, the rush, sigh, rush,
sigh, and I smiled with my eyes still closed. But the sun felt too real,
seeping into my skin. And…what was that? A seagull?
Opening
my eyes, I squinted into the window at the midday sky. Where in the hell was I?
“Lily?”
I
felt a hand on my shoulder and then a man—incredibly handsome, with dark hair
and clear green eyes—leaned over to examine me in a concerned way. “Hi.” He
smiled. “You okay?”
“Me?”
I stared at him for a second before taking a quick look to my right and left,
trying desperately to recognize the room. Where was I? I sat up too quickly and grabbed my head, wincing in
discomfort. No good.
“Be
careful there, Lil. You got hit hard.”
“I
did?” I asked. “By who? Wait…” I held a hand out. “Okay, I’m sorry, but, who
are you?”
His
eyes narrowed. “Are you serious?” he said, half chuckling.
“Yes.
I’m sorry. I don’t mean to sound rude, but…I’m honestly, truly confused.”
The
man sighed, his face creasing with worry, and he left me to stand in the
doorway.
“Demetre?
Anna? Everyone? I could use your help in
here.”
In
no time at all, a whole group had gathered at the side of the bed with
questioning eyes.
“What’s
up, William?” A gruff older man asked and then he smiled at me. “Great, she’s
awake! What’s the problem?”
“Just
talk to her,” Mr. Handsome instructed.
A
young, blond woman maneuvered around to sit beside me. “She certainly looks
well enough. How’s your head, Lily? You all right?” She had the loveliest
British accent…and it seemed my name was Lily.
“I
have to apologize. I don’t…I don’t remember you,” I admitted, cringing. “I’m so
sorry. You said I got hit in the head,
right? Maybe that’s why?”
Oh,
this was embarrassing and
frustrating. Somewhere in the recesses of my befuddled brain I knew I should
recognize this place, these people, but, damned if I could. What in the blazes
was going on? Unless….
“Do
you, er, am I dreaming?” I asked aloud, as if people in a dream could answer
accurately.
“No,”
William answered with palpable sadness. In fact, suddenly, I was incredibly
sad, too.
“I
think I must be, though.” I cocked my
head to the side to examine the group more closely. “Because you all look so
weird. Smudgy and glowy…”
Another
man—blond and also quite attractive—gave William a worried look. “Is this
something you can handle?” he asked. Ah, he had an accent, too! How charming.
“I
would think so,” William said. “God, I hope so.”
