New Release - Biitersweet Seraphim

Tomorrow is release day here at Omnific, and I have to say that I am over the moon excited about this one! The follow up to Debra Anastasia's Crushed Seraphim, Bittersweet Seraphim will be available tomorrow. (And Crushed Seraphim ebook is on sale right now for just 99 cents!! So go download it and read it before tomorrow!)

Suffering is worst when you’re doing it alone. But Emma’s taking Hell like an angel—even though her languishing began with having her seraph wings torn from her back. Now her worst enemy lords his body and his evil desires over her while she tries desperately to remember the words to her favorite prayer.

As Devil, Jack used to have Hell and its women humming like well-oiled machines. Too bad he’s nowhere near the place now. Stuck on Earth as a human, he must work with a ragtag team of exiled minions and half-breeds to save the angel who’s become all that matters.

Rescuing a seraph is the plan, but breaking into Hell means letting evil things out. Once they collide, minions and angels converge in the battle of the ages: good versus evil. But which side is which? Will Jack destroy the world as he fights to save Emma, his true and timeless love, from a damnation he designed?

An action-packed sequel to Crushed Seraphim, this tale reveals—time and again—what happens when the heart’s deepest desires break free. With a story both sizzling and sensual, emotional and enigmatic, Debra Anastasia invites readers to join a battle with nothing less than love on the line.

Debra was kind enough to take a few minutes out of this busy time and answer a few of our questions...

Omnific: Bittersweet Seraphim is the sequel to one of my Omnific favorites, Crushed Seraphim,  tell us about what inspired you to write and write this series. (By the way – I CRIED through the whole first half of Bittersweet. And it takes a lot to make me cry…so thanks for that!)

Debra: You are adorable. I’m glad that you cried because I cried writing it! Holy crap I think I was close to electrocuting myself on the keyboard.  I wanted to write a Christmas story. It was supposed to be a sweet, funny story about believing in yourself and it turned into more of a study in faith. Faith in yourself, faith that the love you have for others and life is worth living. When my angel started cursing, I knew I was in for an interesting ride.
Omnific: Can you share a little of your writing process with us? Are you a plotter or do you write as a scene hits?
Debra: I’m a plotter that gets sabotaged by my characters.  I confidently head into a story knowing where it’ll go and my characters laugh at me. I can’t tell you how often I sit there at the end of the chapter and go, “Well, didn’t see that coming!” It causes me stress at times because stories need to get from point A to point B. When the characters call the shots, there’s a concern that they will drive the train off the tracks. After watching it all come together time and time again, I now trust the likes of Satan Jack and Emma to hold the reigns.
Omnific: With the holidays approaching, what is on the top of your list for Santa to leave under the tree?
Debra: I’ve already received the best present of my life. In September we moved into our new house. After having our old house destroyed in Hurricane Irene, and dealing with the huge quagmire of paperwork, actually moving back home was almost lost in the mix. When we were able to close and lock the door and stay there? Gosh, nothing tops that. My whole family has peace looking out at the familiar scenery in the new, strong house. We celebrate both Hanukkah and Christmas and I already have the menorah set up. We are very, very blessed.

Omnific: Since Omnific is all about the romance...what is your favorite romance scene in a book?
Debra: I love Omnific’s romances. Seriously, if you’re reading this and you haven’t dipped into more of the Omnific stock you totally should. This publishing house has amazing writers and original plots!

Bittersweet Seraphim has a few of my very favorite romance scenes that I’ve ever written. I’m a HUGE fan of the scene with Nero and Jenny with the hose on the driveway. When I was done with that I knew the tone for their love was set. Of course, any Jack scene makes me shake my head and love him more. The one part when he had to kiss a dude? Awesome. This book also has my scariest sex scene. The cage scene with Seriana felt like taking off a parachute and jumping out of plane. I could not believe how that went down.

Omnific: Now, if they made that into a movie who would you want cast? (Or if they have already made a movie, would you recast it?)

Debra: No movie yet. I would so have the biggest popcorn and all my readers at the premier if I could! I would cast Johnny Depp as Jack. A picture of him sitting in front of empty bottles was the inspiration for how Hell was depicted in this book. Emma Stone would make a wonderful angel Emma. Oh my gosh, and how about Joe Manganiello for Nero? He would fit that role perfectly.

(Thought that in case everyone didn't know who Joe Manganiello was that I should share more than one...you know just for information sake.)

Omnific: And the dreaded question after months of editing…do you have anything else that you are working on next?

Debra: I actually love working with Jessica Royer Ocken so much, editing is a lot of fun with her! I’m working on a few things that I’m not allowed to talk about, but also the sequel to Poughkeepsie titled: Return to Poughkeepsie. It will have all the characters from the first book but focus on Beckett and Eve. And I’m pretty sure it will take the cake for scary sex scenes!

Thanks so much, Deb! Congratulations on the release and good luck! For the record I agree about working with Jessica and I am adorable!

If you haven't seen the trailer for this one yet...you NEED to!!
